Celebrating Our Connect Graffiti Workshops

At Three Circles Fostering, our Connect youth group is all about giving young people opportunities to express themselves, build friendships, and explore important topics in a way that feels engaging and meaningful. This April, we were proud to run not one, but two incredible graffiti workshops across the North West and Yorkshire — and what a success they were.

Bringing Ideas to Life

In the lead-up to the sessions, our young people were already getting involved. Through earlier Connect activities, they shared their thoughts, ideas, and images around online safety — what it means to them, the positives of being online, and the risks they’re aware of.

These ideas became the foundation for the workshops. By the time the sessions began, the graffiti wall designs had already been shaped by the young people themselves, giving them real ownership from the very start.

A Session Full of Energy and Creativity

Each workshop ran for three hours and was split into two creative activities, allowing everyone to take part in different ways.

One group worked together on a large graffiti wall, exploring the more serious side of online life — the risks, challenges, and how to stay safe. Using spray techniques, layering, and masking, they built up a bold and impactful piece step by step.

At the same time, other groups created their own collaborative boards, focusing on the positive aspects of being online. These included themes like staying connected with friends and family, gaming, creativity, and learning new things.

This balance worked brilliantly. It gave young people the space to reflect on both sides of their digital lives — not just the dangers, but also the enjoyment and opportunities.

Teamwork in Action

Throughout the sessions, young people worked in small groups, supporting each other, sharing ideas, and building designs together. It was fantastic to see their teamwork, creativity, and confidence grow as the workshops progressed.

The final pieces were a real testament to their efforts — vibrant, thoughtful, and full of personality. The graffiti wall in particular was described as impressive, with just a few finishing touches needed after the session.

Why It Matters

What made these workshops so special wasn’t just the artwork — it was the conversations, the collaboration, and the confidence built along the way.

By splitting the session into two themes, we were able to:

* Explore important topics like online safety in an open and creative way

* Celebrate the positive role technology plays in young people’s lives

* Encourage teamwork and shared decision-making

* Give young people a real sense of ownership over their work

The result was a well-rounded, engaging experience that resonated with everyone involved.

Looking Ahead

With such a successful April event behind us, we’re already excited for what’s next. Our Connect youth group will be heading to Manchester city centre in May for a treasure hunt — another opportunity to bring young people together, build connections, and create lasting memories. We also have a laser tag experience planned in Yorkshire!

More Than Just Activities

At Three Circles Fostering, sessions like these are just one of the many ways we support and engage the young people in our community. Through Connect, we aim to create spaces where they feel heard, valued, and inspired.

These graffiti workshops were a perfect example of that — creative, meaningful, and led by the voices of our young people.

We can’t wait to see what they create next!
