Youth Worker

This role focuses on providing direct support to children and young people across our North West base. You’ll offer mentoring, guidance, and practical support — mainly outside of school hours — and work closely with foster carers and our social work team to promote confidence, resilience, and belonging.

As part of the wider engagement team, you will also help deliver our family events, support our independence-skills workshops, and contribute to developing children’s independence through our Connect service. The role includes attending a two-night residential each year.

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group sessions to support young people emotionally, socially, and practically.

  • Support children and young people to develop their skills for independence, including participation in our Connect independence-skills programme.

  • Deliver and help develop independence workshops that prepare young people for adulthood.

  • Support the delivery of our Catalyst digital youth club.

  • Offer flexible, reliable support — including evenings and weekends — tailored to young people’s needs.

  • Act as a mentor, helping young people set and work towards personal, educational, and future goals.

  • Keep detailed records and share relevant updates with social workers and carers.

  • Ensure children and young people’s wishes and feelings are heard and acted upon.

  • Help plan and deliver family events that bring carers and young people together.

  • Contribute to organisation and participation in a two-night residential each year.

What We’re Looking For

  • A creative, energetic, and passionate person with a heart for young people.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in youth work, experience within children’s social care, or a related field.

  • A natural communicator who can build relationships with children, carers, and colleagues.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to deliver structured sessions and workshops.

  • Flexibility — this is not a 9 to 5 role. Some evening and weekend availability is essential.

  • A collaborative mindset — you’ll work closely with our social work team.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable

  • A relevant qualification in Youth Work, Social Care, or similar (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice).

What You’ll Get

  • £28,000 annual salary

  • 30 days paid annual leave

  • Private health insurance

  • Company pension scheme

  • A warm, welcoming team and strong support from across the agency

  • The chance to make a real impact through direct support work and independence-skills development
