Children's Mental Health Week: Supporting Young Minds at Three Circles Fostering
At Three Circles Fostering, we know that good mental health is fundamental to a child’s development, confidence, and sense of belonging. During Children’s Mental Health Week, we join organisations across the UK in shining a light on the importance of emotional well-being for children and young people—particularly those in care.
This week is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and recommit to what we work towards every day: helping young people feel safe, supported, and understood, so they can thrive.
Putting Emotional Well-Being at the Heart of Fostering
Children who come into care may have experienced uncertainty, trauma, or loss, and these experiences can have a lasting impact on their mental health. That’s why, at Three Circles, emotional well-being is woven into every part of our work—from training and supervision to support services and community activities.
We work closely with our foster carers to ensure children grow up in homes where:
They feel listened to and believed
Their feelings are recognised and validated
They are encouraged to build confidence and resilience
They can form trusting, secure relationships
A stable, nurturing family environment can make a world of difference to a young person’s outlook and future.
How We Support Children and Young People
Our approach to mental health is practical, compassionate, and tailored to each child. Some of the ways we support young people across our network include:
Creating Safe and Loving Homes
Foster carers provide consistency, care, and reassurance—giving children the emotional security they need to begin healing and growing.
Encouraging Open Conversations
We support carers to talk openly with children about their emotions, using age-appropriate tools and techniques that help young people express how they’re feeling.
Listening to Young People’s Voices
Through our Wishes & Feelings consultations and engagement work, children and young people are encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns—ensuring their voices are heard and valued.
Training and Ongoing Support for Carers
Our carers receive guidance on supporting emotional well-being, managing challenging behaviours, and helping children develop coping strategies. With a dedicated team and 24/7 support, no one is ever facing things alone.
An Inclusive Community That Cares
Three Circles Fostering is proud to be a diverse and inclusive organisation. We welcome carers from all backgrounds and communities and strive to create a fostering network where everyone feels respected and supported.
Every child deserves to feel accepted for who they are, and every foster family should feel confident and empowered in the vital role they play.
Thinking About Becoming a Foster Carer?
Children’s Mental Health Week is also a moment to reflect on the incredible impact foster carers have on young lives. By opening your home, you can offer stability, encouragement, and hope to a child who needs it most.
If you’ve ever considered fostering, we’d love to talk to you. Joining Three Circles means becoming part of a warm, supportive community that will be with you at every step of your journey.
Supporting Young Minds—Every Day
While this week helps raise awareness nationally, at Three Circles Fostering our commitment to children’s mental health continues all year round. Our team is always here to support carers, families, and young people—because nurturing emotional well-being isn’t just something we focus on for one week. It’s part of who we are.
Together, let’s keep working to ensure every child in our care feels safe, valued, and ready to look toward the future with confidence. 💛
