Celebrating the Children of Foster Carers

In the world of fostering, there are unsung heroes who play a significant role in the lives of foster children. These heroes are the children, grandchildren, and wider families of foster carers, who extend their love, support, and understanding to make fostering possible.

At Three Circles Fostering, we understand the immense impact these young hearts and family members have on the fostering journey. That's why we're dedicated to celebrating them, recognising their importance, and ensuring they are an integral part of our fostering family.

Our Commitment to Celebration:

  1. Inviting children to special events: At Three Circles Fostering, we understand the importance of inclusion. That's why we invite the children of our foster carers to exciting events every other month. These events aren't just about fun; they create a sense of belonging and unity within the fostering community. The laughter, the camaraderie, and the shared experiences help foster a strong sense of togetherness.

  2. Recognising achievements: October is Children Who Foster Month, an initiative by The Fostering Network to honour the unsung heroes in fostering. To acknowledge the remarkable achievements of our foster carers' children, we send dedicated certificates to celebrate their contributions to fostering. This recognition not only boosts their self-esteem but also highlights the significance of their support in the fostering process.

  3. Birthday celebrations: Birthdays are a time of joy and reflection. We make sure the children of our foster carers feel that joy. Sending them birthday cards is our way of expressing how special they are to us. These simple gestures of celebration create a bond that lasts a lifetime, fostering a sense of belonging and family.

  4. Festive gift: The holiday season is a time for togetherness and celebration. We include the children of our foster carers in our festive gift each year, ensuring that they can enjoy the festivities to the fullest. This inclusion in the festive celebrations ensures that they feel cherished and loved, like every child should.

  5. Catalyst Youth Forum: We believe in giving children a voice. Our Catalyst Youth Forum is an opportunity for them to actively participate, share their thoughts, and be a part of our fostering community's decision-making process. This involvement not only empowers them but also enriches our fostering programs with their unique insights.

  6. Welcome packs: Collaboration with children who foster has led to the creation of a special "Children Who Foster" welcome pack for the children of new foster families. These packs are designed to help them navigate their unique roles and feel at home within our fostering community. They contain valuable resources, personal stories, and helpful tips, making them feel like an essential part of our extended family.

Why Celebrating Children in Fostering Matters:

  1. A stronger support system: Fostering is a team effort, and the support of the children of foster carers is invaluable. They provide a safe and loving environment for foster children and play a crucial role in their adjustment and emotional well-being. Their unwavering support and understanding create a strong foundation for the success of the fostering journey.

  2. Inspirational role models: Children who grow up in foster families often become inspirational role models for the foster children. They offer understanding and empathy that can only come from shared experiences. Their presence provides comfort and reassurance to those entering the foster care system, showing them that they can thrive and find happiness within a foster family.

  3. Sense of belonging: Celebrating the children of foster carers creates a sense of belonging within the fostering community. It reinforces the idea that they are all part of a larger family working together to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children. The fostering journey can be challenging, but the sense of belonging and unity forged by celebrating these young hearts and extended families makes it all the more rewarding.

Join Us in Celebrating Together:

At Three Circles Fostering, we wholeheartedly celebrate the unsung heroes who stand beside our foster carers. We invite you to join us in recognising the children, grandchildren, and wider families who make fostering possible. By doing so, we strengthen the fostering community, ensuring that every child feels valued and cherished on their journey towards a brighter future.

Fostering is a labour of love, and it is our firm belief that love should be celebrated in all its forms. Through the acknowledgment and celebration of the children who foster, we pave the way for a more inclusive, compassionate, and successful fostering experience. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless children in care. As we continue to foster love and unity within our community, we stand together in celebrating the invaluable role played by the children of foster carers. They are the heart of our fostering family, and their significance cannot be overstated.
