Sons and daughters month
Each October, The Fostering Network encourages fostering services across the UK to run events and activities to recognise, thank and reward children and young people for the important role they play in welcoming fostered children into their families.
We recognise their contributions at our awards celebration day, where over 30 children and young people received certificates for the amazing contributions they make to their families and to fostering.
We have sent out a number of thank you cards and have an event planned for them (check out the carer login for more details).
As part of Sons and Daughters Month The Fostering Network are running a competition for children and young people in fostering households, asking them to share what they have learned as a result of their fostering experiences. Using either a written piece, photograph, piece of art or video the children or young people should give an answer to the question of what #FosteringTeachesYou.
The submissions can be in the form of a written piece, photograph or piece of art or a video. There are four different age categories with the winner in each receiving a £20 voucher:
7 and under
The competition closes on 31 October 2019 and winners will be chosen in early November by a judging panel of The Fostering Network staff and trustees.
They will showcase as many photos, drawings or videos as they can on social media, on their website or in their Foster Care magazine, so please make sure the right permissions have been given for any looked after children.
You can also share pictures, videos and memories using the hashtag #FosteringTeachesYou on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
